Same sex marriage is important to me. I have some LGBT friends, and I think that the idea of them not being able to marry who they want, it’s just not fair. The basic rights of an American; Life, Liberty, and Persuit of Happiness. Marriage inequality goes against all three. So in order to be a privileged American, we must accept same sex marriage for the sake of our rights.
In our lives, we make many, many decisions. It’s what we’re use to. What shirt should I wear today? What should I eat for breakfast? Should I ask him out?, etc. This natural and fair way of life has been working. Especially with the statistical drop in racism in the last decade. But what’s not okay, is that people would like to make the decision for us. People would like to tell us that we don’t have the right to live the way we want to, because we don’t want you to. You can’t Mary the same sex, because we say so. It hardly seems fair. It goes against our right to living a good life.
Liberty: The power or scope to act as one pleases. You know, Google makes it sound so easy. Not much explaining there, but, in case you missed it: WE WOULD LIKE TO MARRY THE SAME GENDER, SO LET US DO AS WE PLEASE.
Pursuit of Happiness
Have you ever thought about what makes you happy? I mean it. Take a moment to really think about it. Is it playing sports? Maybe it’s listening to music, or being with that special someone. Well guess what? Sorry, but that’s illegal now. I don’t like it, so you aren’t allowed to be happy. ‘Nuff said?
I mean, if you ask me, it’s pretty obvious how unfair this is. To be honest, one day I just want to lead a rally protesting against straight marriage. That would really throw the world off now, wouldn’t it? So what do you think? Do you support same sex marriage? Why or why not? Until next time.
Sincerely, Your Advocate
